How is Quartz Made?
Quartz worktops are made through a meticulous manufacturing process that begins with the extraction of natural quartz crystals, which are then crushed and ground into fine particles. These quartz particles are mixed with resins, polymers, and pigments to create a cohesive blend, comprising about 90-95% quartz.
The mixture is poured into moulds, where it is subjected to high pressure through a process called vacuum vibrocompression, effectively eliminating air pockets and forming dense slabs. After moulding, the slabs are cured in ovens at high temperatures to harden the resin, ensuring a strong bond between the quartz particles.
This engineered stone not only offers durability and resistance to stains and scratches, but also provides a wide range of design options, appealing to various aesthetic preferences.
