Edge Profile Guide
If choosing the perfect stone wasn't enough, the edge profile of your worktop is also an important factor to consider when making your decision. With plenty of options to choose from, from bevel to bullnose, your worktops can be personalised to the final detail.
We offer beveled edges as a standard on all of our works, which creates a completed look perfect for any interior design choices, but if you're looking for a more unique and stylised option, our more intricate designs may be appealing to you.
What Stones Can Have Edge Profiles?
Our more intricate edge profiles can be achieved on quartz, granite, or marble, dependent on how fragile the stone is and the kind of profile you're after. Some natural stones are prone to crumbling under too much fabrication pressure, making it difficult to achieve profiles such as ogee; we never want to compromise on the quality of our stone, and often recommend a more simple edging for these fragile stones.
For porcelain worktops, we highly recommend sticking to our standard bevel edge. Firstly, the thin profile of some porcelain slabs makes it tricky to achieve the detailed edges, with significantly less surface area to work with. Porcelain is also a printed stone, meaning that if you have chosen one with a veining or pattern, this pattern will not continue down the edge of the stone, unlike quartz, and only appear on the top of the surface. For this reason, some of these edge profiles would make the worktop look less coherent with the rest of the space.
If you have any questions about what profiles we recommend for different stones, feel free to ask one of our members of staff.
